Growing up, I always wore tons of frilly girly stuff. Pink sweatshirts, bows in my hair, purple and turquoise jeans (hey, it was the 90s). Then, I got to a certain age and really grew out of the color pink. I'm not a fan of things pink and girly and you won't find much pink in my everyday wardrobe. The color doesn't really suit me, and I never think to buy it. (I always said that if I had a baby girl, she would never be in frilly dresses. Well, I have a female dog and she has just about everything pink so...)
When it comes to running clothes, apparently, I am in the minority. At the Chicago Marathon Expo, this was clear, as almost all of the running clothes in women's sizes (regardless of brand) were pink. I really don't understand this. Just because I'm a girl, doesn't mean I like the color pink. Give me navy blue, grey, green... These colors are rarely available in women's sizes, just in general. Is it just me? Am I alone in my thinking? Has anyone else noticed this? (I think the only pink item I own is my favorite running thing.)
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm totally on team purple.

What do you think? Do you love to wear pink? Do you wish women's running clothes came in more color varieties?
I love me some pink. Really really do. However, my favorite color to turn to is always blue for some reason...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color is PURPLE... or oddly enough orange. I like pink too, shoot, I'm a full RAINBOW...
ReplyDeleteI am not a pink girl. I usually gravitate towards red...
ReplyDeleteIntersting! I have never noticed an abundance of pink (except during breast cancer month) but now I will watch out for it. I never cared for pink growing up but have a lot of pink running clothes. I think the color suits me. But orange is my FAVE!
ReplyDeleteGreen all the way for me! But I do love me some other colors to spice things up. I usually find the "non pink" running stuff faster than the pink stuff.
ReplyDeleteI love purple lately! I just can't get enough. I'm actually wearing purple right now! :)
ReplyDeleteNice to know I'm not alone. Do you notice that a lot of running clothes are pink?
ReplyDeleteI am all for green! I don't have enough green running stuff, honestly!! Where do you do your shopping that you find non-pink stuff faster?!
ReplyDeleteObvi I know you are on team orange!! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE pink and wear it as much as I can in running clothes.. but there does come a time where I get bored and feel like I'm wearing the same thing all the time. Wish there was more color and combos overall to add to my running wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteSo funny because ever since I started running, the pink (which was never there before) in my wardrobe has increased. The marketing must be rubbing off on me.
ReplyDeleteha! Yes there was new balance jacket with an insane price that was pink or had pink in it at the expo and I was like wth pink? ugh but I wear fuschia! lol that's my pink!
ReplyDeleteI've never been a huge fan of pink. Probably because when I was little I was told that redheads don't wear pink and maybe it just sunk in? Even though I like to break fashion rules, haha. But pink is just too girly for me. I have some pink/fuchsia stuff, but generally I try to avoid it. I do love purple though.
ReplyDeleteSo many people love pink but I am just not one of those people... I don't mind the occasional pink accent, I just wish we had more color options!
ReplyDeleteHmm, interesting! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, there was tons and tons and tons of pink at the expo. If it was a women's size, it was the color pink. Give us some variety, people! :)
ReplyDeleteI think we've been purple twinsies plenty of times. I prefer the melon/pink myself, as long as it is BRIGHT!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. This drives me absolutely insane. Just because I'm a lady doesn't mean I automatically love pink. My running shoes are pink (well, fuschia, really) because that's the only color they come in. Pink is fine, but choices are even better!
ReplyDeleteI, of course, like purple much better than pink (and blue more than pink too)...I don't dislike pink though. I've just never owned tons of pink things.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind pink, but I agree with you. It would be nice to see more variety in colors for women. I really like purples & blues more than pink too!
ReplyDeleteNike usually has a bunch of "other than pink" colored shirts. I have a lot of luck there. Also running warehouse has a good supply of colorful stuff too. The expos are too pink heavy in my opinion... That's why I dont usually buy stuff at those :)
ReplyDeleteI hate the color pink so much. But bc of exactly what you're saying I have SO much pink running crap bc everything they make for women is pink.
ReplyDeleteblech.
I agree, Running Warehouse really is a great resource!
ReplyDeleteDown with pink!!!!
ReplyDeleteYessss, glad you agree!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on this one! I don't mind pink but I really don't like it when races do gender-specific race tees and the womens is pink. Why can't it be the same color as the mens? Not liking pink did pay off yesterday when I went to order my running shoes on sale and the only colors left were pink and the blue, red, and black pair I wear now. Guess what, the pink ones on sale were $20 more than the ones I bought. $20 more for the color pink? Crazy!
