What is your favorite running “thing”? Something that you either HAVE to have for every run or race, or something you don’t always have or use, but look forward to eating/using/wearing before, during or after a run. Maybe it completely changed your running, or is something you just really like. It can be something you wear, something you eat, something you use (in reality or digitally), etc, but it has to be a thing.
At first, I wanted to name my Garmin. But I know I depend too much on technology sometimes so I wanted to think of something else I use all the time that I really enjoy. The winner: Nike Running Cyclone Jacket! This is something I saw one of my fellow Yankee Runners wearing on a misty summer day during marathon training. She told me she had gotten it at Marshall's so I rushed over there and purchased one.
Best. Purchase. Ever. It only cost about $30-$35 (because it was at Marshall's) and I wear it all the time. It is really light so perfect for the outermost layer when it is cold and/or snowing. (I purchased a size up than I normally would have and that was a great decision for layering.)
But also light enough to wear when it is warmer and rainy. It is even comfortable enough to wear during a half marathon...
Or running with a friend while she completes a full marathon!
I keep finding new ways to make this photo relevant enough to post. |
I love mine!! I got it off ebay for around $50 over the winter. And it's so small and compact, I just keep it in my running bag "just in case."
ReplyDeleteFYI - Runners warehouse has them marked down (although not quite that cheap) And i saw them at dicks, if anyone has a coupon :)
ReplyDeleteI love that it's polka dotted! Super cute AND functional. I bought a waterproof running jacket at Nordstrom Rack at the end of 2010 but it's not nearly as good at yours.
ReplyDeleteGood to know! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteThe polka dots actually serve a purpose too! They are made of a felt-like material and on the inside of the jacket. The purpose of them is to keep the jacket away from your body when the weight of the rain wants the jacket to stick to you. Genius although I haven't yet worn this jacket when it is pouring outside...
ReplyDeleteWhat is the brand of the Norstrom Rack jacket?
I'll have to keep eBay in mind if I don't find another one this summer at Marshall's! :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute jacket! :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket, it looks versatile enough for all-season usage! I just read what you said below about the polka-dots helping to keep the jacket from sticking to you when it's raining - that really is genius!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I've been pondering what to post for this week's photo challenge myself, and the first thing I thought of was my Garmin, too. =)
You look so cute in it! :) Esp with your besties.
ReplyDeleteI rarely wear jackets when I run. I wonder if I would more if I had one of these?
Cute jacket! Love the color!! I always run with my sunglasses. Even when it's raining! I have really sensitive eyes, and glare normally hurts more than direct sun, so I'll never leave for a run without them. I tried it once. I made it 3 blocks before I turned around and went to bed with a migraine. Lesson learned.
ReplyDeleteYou should email MagMileRunner (mag@magmilerunner.com) and enter the Photo Challenge if you'd like! :) We were just talking last night about how we wanted a pair of sports sunglasses. I may come to you for recommendations! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! Me and my besties... what can I say? Haha. I would actually love to meet Kara and Shalane IRL. Maybe some day I'll see them at a race expo! :)
ReplyDeleteThis jacket is amazing. I highly recommend it!
Thanks! I'm interested to see what you decide! I liked this week's challenge! And I didn't have to take a new picture for it either... haha.
ReplyDeleteI'd been wondering about those jackets... Now you have me sold! If i ever see one i'll have to buy it. Maybe it will get me outdoors on those days its raining- where id usually just run with my BFF, the tread. :)
ReplyDeleteYes! A little rain just helps keep you cool on super hot days, right? The jacket is great at keeping your upper half dry and the chafing to a minimum! :) Let me know if you go ahead and get one!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I just saw this post...cute!
ReplyDeleteHaha, this post obviously shows who I run with the most... You and Maggie (and of course Shalane and Kara... OBVS)
