After a little while, we lined up in a big crowd. I still didn't know what were doing until we started moving. We were going for a run! This is my favorite activity! I always like to go up ahead but Mom always stops me. There were lots of hills so I didn't mind the walking. I didn't understand why we were running in the street. I kept trying to go on the normal sidewalks but was led into the street. As a good dog though, I did what I was told.
All of the people helping during the race were so nice. They smiled and gave me encouraging words. It really helped keep me going!

As we were running most of the time on the street, when I saw grass, I just knew I had to take care of some business. Luckily Mom was there to clean it up because it was pretty stinky. More volunteers gave me a pat on the head as I ran by and I knew we were getting close to the end. I tried to sprint ahead and finish strong but Mom held me back as usual. That's okay though, I still had fun. After the race was over, I was happy to sit and relax for a little bit. But then more and more people came by and I was just so excited to see everyone! I loved that they had pizza at the finish line since pizza is my favorite. I tried to sneak a slice when no one was looking, but someone was always looking, unfortunately. Luckily Mom and one of her friends gave me their crusts. They were delicious!
I had such a fun time at my first 5k and I hope to run many more! It was perfect weather too! I never got too hot. Well, all this typing has got me tired. Time for a nap.
This is too cute.
ReplyDeleteomg. Pepper is my favorite. Pepper looks SO happy in that race pic!! I LOVE IT! I want to run a race with Pepper.
ReplyDeleteYay, Pepper! Congrats, girl on your first "official" 5K finish!
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks! She really looks like a happy dog. :)
ReplyDeleteI know Muddy Monk races are dog-friendly so I was hoping to bring her to one of those this year, but my window for outdoor races is getting shorter. I'm not going to be running outside once it starts getting hot. Definitely not worth it, IMO.
This made me smile! Congrats Pepper on your first 5k!
ReplyDeleteShe says thanks very much!
ReplyDeletePepper says "Thanks!"
ReplyDeleteThe best kind of race reports, from the dog's point of view! :)
ReplyDeleteAw! So happy you finally got to run a 5k Pepper!!! Great job helping mom run it!!
ReplyDeletePepper's English is great!
ReplyDeleteShe's been practicing. She might have more blog posts in the future, watch out!
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks!
ReplyDeletePepper is so happy in the race pics. I think it was the best day of her life. Lol
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited to know races are pretty pet friendly. Guess I've never thought about it as I am currently petless. However, the bf wants me to join him in running his parents' dog, so I'm curious for the future...
ReplyDeleteI heard about this race when I was the Road Runner Sports event. Since it is in the city, I probably won't go but it sounds like fun if you have a pet! :)

hahaha This is such a cute post.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! And what a great pic of you two! Ha ha. Pepper, you are so good trying to go on the sidewalk! I hope you get a full piece of pizza next time! What is your favorite kind? Vegetarian, I presume? Ha ha ha.
ReplyDeleteThanks Molly!
ReplyDeletePepper is a very good rule follower when she is focused and feels like behaving. ;) Her favorite kind of pizza is any kind. She can tell when we're cooking it. She starts to hover and follow, hoping we drop something. She goes extra crazy when we order out pizza versus the frozen stuff. She can just smell that it is going to taste better. Lol!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad she got to run a 5K! I think Pepper should also become an official cheering squad for races she can't run. Her happy face would cheer up anyone!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erin, what a great idea! I'll have to remember this for the next time I spectate a race. I'm thinking I'll bring her to Zooma for sure, if it isn't too hot.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome. Great job, Pepper! I totally read this in a "Pepper voice." Which actually sounds like a lot Kelly's excited voice.
ReplyDeleteHmm what a coincidence!
ReplyDeleteGreat recap, Pepper, and congrats on finishing your first 5k! My dogs would love to run with you sometime, hopefully your Mom signs you up for more races :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne! It was so much fun, this is definitely not the last race we're doing together. :)
