First Stroller Run

My running these days has been kind of sporadic. How is the weather? What do I have time for? When did I last feed the baby? Before I was pregnant, I was running more miles so it took longer to complete my runs. Every week starts off with the intention to run a few times... But then I look at the calendar, see how much time has passed and wonder where all the time went! Seriously, motherhood will do that to you! Since I'm base building at this point, it doesn't take me that long to go for a run. I always say I'm getting into a routine, but then something changes. I'm back to work now so we are trying to figure out what is the new normal... So my goal right now is to run when I can, hopefully 2 days a week. We'll see how things go.

Since the arctic temperatures in Chicago seemed to have temporarily subsided, I deceived to take advantage over the weekend and I went for a run with Patsy! The snow was mostly melted, the roads were clear and it wasn't too cold. Since Patsy is still in the infant carrier, I got to look at her for the whole run. She loved it! She was giving me big smiles and she almost fell asleep just as I was finishing up. I seriously have so much respect for moms that run lots of miles with their jogging strollers. It is so much harder than I thought it would be, especially with the wind I wasn't expecting. I'm looking forward to spending some time with my little girl while logging some miles as well!
All dressed up and ready to go!

Of course I had to pose by this SWEET face! :)

  1. Way to go! I can't imagine the difference in pushing a stroller versus running solo! Glad these temps are getting to be a bit more bearable...it's downright balmy compared to last week!

aww so cute!! It is harder, but when they enjoy it, it can be fun!! I totally understand the time getting away from you too!

I have lots of "run like a mother" stickers leftover from a giveaway I had a long time ago, let me know if you want one! You are officially earning it now!! :-)

That thing looks difficult to push! You're going to have quads of steel this summer!

  5. Cool. Congrats on your first stroller run! What did runners do before they invented those jogging strollers?

  6. Thanks! Yes the temps were BEAUTIFUL compared to what they have been!

  8. Haha, I think you are right! Also, it will make running without the stroller so much easier!

  9. Haha, perhaps! Although our current conversations leave much to be desired. Her favorite vocabulary word right now is "agoo"!

  10. Haha, thanks! I have no idea! Run in regular strollers?

  11. Aww, I love the pic with Patsy. And that she loved it! Think of how all that stroller pushing will make running seem easier when you don't have it. It's like a secret training weapon ;) Or method. Ha ha. Weapon sounds funny.

  12. Aw, I bet having Patsy cheer you on with smiles the whole time was great motivation! My furry running buddy smiles a lot when we run together, which definitely helps the miles fly by.

New motherhood kind of sounds like a time warp, so definitely just run whenever you can. Twice (or even once!) a week is a good goal to shoot for!

  13. Glad you were able to get out for a run. Ugh, seriously, I'm glad it got a bit warmer. I wish it would stick around!

  14. Yaaay, nice work! You guys are both friggin' adorable. And I bet it will be a lot easier once you can ditch that extra few pounds worth of car seat! I I never had the car seat adapter, but I may need to invest in one for this summer.;)

  15. I TOTALLY thought of you when I did the pose next to the stroller. I called the hubs outside to take it. :) I ran into some issues trying to find the right connector (went through 2 connectors before I called BOB to ask which one I needed). I was debating whether or not to get one in the first place and my baby is on the small side so I'm glad I have it!

  16. Yes! I miss you guys on Thursday nights! My schedule is still crazy as we are figuring things out. I hope I can join you guys sometime soon!

  17. You are totally right! Pepper was really mad that she couldn't come with me. She was actually at home CRYING that she wasn't running with me. It was my first run with the stroller so I didn't want to risk it. Running with the stroller is a 2 person job so I couldn't also hold the leash. I'll have to figure out a way to do both some time because Pepper LOVES her runs!

And you are so right! It is a total time warp! Thanks for the support :) Any running is better than no running.

  18. You are so right... Secret weapon and PR driver... The jogging stroller!

  19. I've seen people running with a stroller and a dog, but yeah, I'm guessing that takes a LOT of practice! :) Poor Pepper, that's how Jude gets when Bob goes running without him - like how could he run by himself?! (I take Jude pretty sporadically, so he doesn't care if I go without him lol)

  20. One of the fastest women in Chicago (my running club buddy Helen who just moved back to the UK) ran for several years while pushing a stroller. I swear it's what gave her all her speed!

  21. Haha, I think there might be some truth to that!
