Baby Wilson: 27 Weeks

Top: ASOS Maternity, Shorts: Old Navy Maternity

How far along? 27 weeks
Baby’s size/development this week: weighs almost 2 pounds and measures about 14 1/2 inches long; about the size of a head of cauliflower
Maternity clothes: wearing them? Yes. I made some more purchases this past weekend and I’m working on a fashion show post for you guys!
Miss anything? Drinking beer
Food cravings? Nothing in particular… Cravings have died down with each passing week.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Still having issues with eating my breakfast too fast. I felt sick on the train in this morning. Hopefully I can figure this thing out. Lol.
Sleep: Still sleeping like a rock but I've been getting night-sweats in this heat. Looking forward to even warmer temps coming up!
Best moment of the week: Seeing how excited my husband’s grandma was to feel some of Baby’s kicks. (It will be her first great-grandchild and she is beyond excited.) And, we received our first registry gift in the mail! One of my blogger friends from the east coast (Danielle of Ooh Breathe, Just Breathe) sent us a Wubbanub. It was just as adorable as I imagined and I’ll have to be sure to send Danielle a photo of Baby using it when he/she arrives!
Nursery: Nothing this week. I should probably get rolling on this soon…
Wedding rings on or off? on
Movement? Some days Baby is more active than others, but the acrobatics always start right before bed… Always. It is pretty comforting actually. :)
Weird pregnancy thing of the week: In addition to the belly button protruding more, I've started to feel a few random Braxton Hicks contractions. I didn't know what I was feeling until I got my weekly email telling me that they usually start around this time. They have been short-lived and not painful (just discomforting) but it is comforting to know that my body is getting ready for Baby’s arrival in September!
Daddy is feeling: like the pressure is on to get things done in the nursery
Mommy is feeling: more and more confident, ready for the home stretch!
Workouts this week: I did tons and tons of walking at Mall of America. That really is my preferred method of workouts these days. I have been enjoying my quiet evenings at home instead of running off to the gym. I think I’m going to continue to enjoy them as they won’t be so quiet for much longer!
Looking forward to: Another doctor’s appointment this Thursday where I’ll get to hear Baby’s heartbeat! Those are always my favorite. I’m going to be asking some good questions this time around so I’m interested to hear what my doctor has to say (circumcision, delayed clamping, whooping cough vaccination). Fun times!

And if you're curious, check out my post about my thoughts on maternity clothes here!

  1. Heh, I've been having night sweats this week too. It's just been so hot! Glad to hear you found some good stuff at MOA, and it's great that you're starting to feel confident and ready :)

That's so cool about your husband's grandma! Both of my grandmas were so excited when they started having great-grandchildren, and I know I'd be thrilled if my hypothetical future kids got to know my grandma.

Well your belly is certainly looking pregnant lately! Was wondering when your tiny self would be showing a bit more. Too adorable for words.

  3. With the power out last night at our house, that was probably one of the worst night's sleep yet! Hopefully our power will be back on soon!!

Speaking of feeling confident, that reminds me that I need to sign us up for the birth classes! Should be interesting! :)

  4. Thanks! It is nice to finally look as pregnant as I've felt. I've had a few strangers ask me about my bump when we were out shopping over the weekend. And, I've heard that things only get bigger from here!!

  5. Ugh! I feel bad I haven't gotten you anything off your registry yet! FAIL! I have a reminder email that I keep ignoring. Bad friend!!!

  6. OMG Do not feel bad about that AT ALL!!! You do not need to get me a gift from my registry!! You already got me the adorable frame that we have in our living room that says Love at First Sight. I love it and have all the ultrasound photos in there. That is more than enough! :)

But you have so many cute things on there! I am going to pick out something now :)

  8. Welcome to the third trimester! :) (Although some sites say it started at week 26 and some say at week 28...27 sound like a good compromise to me!)

I am so jealous of your sleep - I never feel rested right now! I would love a solid night's sleep, zombie just doesn't suit me.

And FWIW I don't think we set anything up for my first until the month before we were due - before the shower it's just hard because you don't have everything yet. So no need to panic yet, although isn't it crazy how close September is?

  10. I'm very thankful I've been able to get in my sleep. I'm sure once I get larger, that will become more of an issue but I'm going to enjoy it while I can! I hope you are able to get some sleep too!!

I know we have some time for the nursery... I agree that it is hard to get things set up if you don't really have anything yet. September seems so close yet so far away!!!

  13. Thanks! Gap was my favorite store, yet again, for maternity stuff. They always have coupons and additional % off their clearance stuff.

  18. You are so darn cute, Kelly!!!!! And if you have a boy and get a circ for him, Dr. L. does a great job. I was very glad when they came back to me after the procedure that they didn't appear to be in a lot stress, and it healed very quickly.

  19. Thanks Jill! Dr. L really is the best doc around, I must say! This information is helpful; thanks so much!

  20. I'm glad. I know I had some concerns with baby one about this, but knowing Dr. L was the one who did the procedure and seeing how he wasn't in a lot of stress made me really happy. I followed the advice of the nurses after the fact and all was good. And who knows, maybe you'll have a girl and this won't be a worry at all. ;)
