Early Wednesday Miles

Yesterday was a beautiful day in Chicagoland. Spring seems to finally be here and the weather had been wonderful. My cold is subsiding a bit and I've been aching to get outside and get some exercise. Last night I had planned on going for a run, but I made some bad pre-run fuel options (Baby really wanted onion rings). Instead, I decided to get up early and go for a run before work. I haven't done this in about a year (yikes), so it had been a long time coming. I laid out my outfit the night before and was ready to go when my alarm went off. My faithful morning buddy was just as excited as I was to get out there and enjoy the weather.
When running with the pup, I never leave home without a baggie, just in case. :)

My plan was to go for 2 miles, depending on how I felt. I did some loops around my neighborhood in case I needed to stop back at home. It didn't come to that because I felt great out there! The birds were chirping, Pepper was chasing all the rabbits, and the sun was coming up towards the end of the run. It was a gorgeous run and I felt great! No cramping, no pain, just some nice slooowwww miles. :) I didn't make it the whole two miles, but I had fun anyways.
Of course I had to wear my "Sweating for Two" shirt that Amanda got me from For Two Fitness. Now that the bump is getting a little bigger, I'm actually filling out the stretchy part a little bit. Haha.

This week the Runner Photo Challenge theme is "America" so I had to get in a photo of our neighbor's flag, flying proudly in the breeze.

This really was a great start to a great day! Do you often run before work? If so, how often? If not, have you ever done it before?

  1. I run almost every day before work! Works like really strong coffee! Its great after you get used to it. 5am or bust!

I was going to enter the photo challenge with my outfit from sunday, red sneakers, blue shorts, white tech shirt. But the blue was a little too light and I chickened out.

Good job getting out there! Don't forget to sing to the baby while running!

  2. Nice run pre work! I bet Pepper was thrilled to go on a run :) I am no morning runner... I even prefer my long runs to be after work on Fridays.

  3. My usual running/ gym time is before work (5:30am!) I'm hoping to start bringing running clothes to work this summer so I can start running downtown when the work day is done - I live in the SW 'burbs and am jealous of all the downtown runners...

  4. Yay for prework runs! I was doing a lot of those in the winter. I want to get back at it, as it's too hot for me after work now :)
Aww, I want to see your stretched out shirt :)

  5. I take bike rides before work in the summer, because I love going down to the lake to watch the sun come up, but I'm probably going to add in some short runs this year because it'll be too hot after work! It's hard for me to fit that in on days I go to the office though - as it is, I have to wake up at 5:30, so getting up any earlier is tough!

I'm glad you and Pepper got out this morning :) It was definitely a beautiful day for it!

  6. Yes, I had to get up at 5am today to get the workout going to be home in time for my usual 5:45 alarm!

You should enter the photo challenge! It isn't too late!!

  7. I used to be a morning runner and then converted to an evening runner. Now with how tired I am at the end of the day (and the fact that my distance is down significantly), it isn't that bad to get in a workout in the morning. :)

  8. I got up at 5am today! My usual alarm goes off at 5:45am. Oh us suburbs people! We gotta get up early to make the donuts! :)

  9. Yes, that sun is brutal. That is one thing I'm not looking forward to... the temps as summer "heats up."

Don't worry, for my 20 week update, I'll have a stretched out belly and new ultrasound photos! :)

  10. I don't own a bike right now and actually bike riding is on the "not to do" list for pregnant folks due to the chances/dangers of falling off. The stationary bike at the gym is fine, but where is the fun in that? :)

Yes, my normal wakeup call is 5:45am so I actually got up at 5:00am for this morning's workout! But, I also went to bed early to compensate. :) Pepper had a wonderful time, which I think shows in the last photo. One thing I love about that dog, she always seems like she's having a wonderful time. It really helps brighten our mood on any day. :)

  11. Nice picture! :) I've attempted pre-work runs, but not in a few years. I only attempted them when I didn't have to leave for work until after 7am. Now that I have to leave by 5:40, I'm not really that anxious to get up any earlier. I'd have to run at like 4am. Who am I, Too Tall Fritz? LOL.

  12. Haha, I honestly don't know how much sleep Ms. Too Tall Fritz gets with her work, training, and driving around 2 kids. I need to start taking some notes. Lol.
