First World Problems IV

**Don't forget to enter my 13.1 Chicago Half Marathon giveaway! You have until tomorrow (Wednesday, March 13) to enter!**

I'm feeling a little grumpy today with the lame weather tease we got over the weekend. Therefore, I'm going to put together a round of First World Problems to help me get out of my grumpy mood. Lol.

This morning I sat down to have my typical bowl of cereal for breakfast. I had bought some more milk over the weekend so I was ready for a heaping bowl. However, much to my dismay, I accidentally bought soy milk instead of almond milk. Thankfully I had just enough almond milk for my breakfast but what am I going to do with this soy milk? I don't want to drink it and should I return the milk to the grocery store I just bought it from? I don't even have a receipt.
FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

On Friday I had the best donut in the world from Fleckenstein's bakery in Mokena. It was a chocolate old fashioned and it was AMAZING. Since then, I have been craving another one but I know that I don't want to get into the habit of eating donuts frequently. Lol. So yesterday, I caved to the craving but I got something that looked similar from Dunkin Donuts (chocolate glazed). It was not nearly as good and probably had about the same amount of calories. Totally not worth it (but I ate it anyways). Now I know that once you've had something good, you can't expect a second-rate version to taste as good.
FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

I'm so sick of this Chicago weather. The temps warmed up over the weekend and the snow melted. Then it rained a ton. You got to feel the nice weather, but you couldn't do anything with it. Then, after the snow all melted, it got cold again and the temps are calling for more snow today and again on Thursday (and we also got some snow yesterday too). I know we've had a fairly normal winter and I don't mind the snow in November - February... but it is March. Shouldn't the snow be gone by now?
FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

We are going to New Orleans again in a few weeks! We leave on March 23 and come home on March 30. We are driving down with 2 other couples so it should be a blast. I plan on doing another food post and taking lots of photos, so get ready for it! However, before anyone goes on vacation, they know the chaos that ensues beforehand. We still have to take dog to vet, go to salon, attend an out-of-state client meeting for 2 days, get the dog groomed, pack, buy/make road trip snacks... Next week is going to be crazy so, I'm going to take my time enjoying this week!
FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

Daylight savings took place this weekend. Therefore, everyone's schedule is thrown off. I'm more tired than usual and I've only changed about half the clocks in the house. Does anyone know the point of daylight savings, like really? I just don't get it.
FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

I went shopping over the weekend at a new local grocery store and I was checking out their selection of goodies. I came across something that left me truly perplexed. Frozen grilled cheese sandwiches. A grilled cheese sandwich has to be one of the easiest thing in the world to make. All you need is 3 ingredients: butter, bread, cheese. I am no chef and even I can make it. It also takes only a few minutes. Why would someone want to buy a frozen grilled cheese when you can easily make one yourself in the same amount of time, with no chemicals or preservatives. (And you just know the frozen version doesn't taste nearly as good as one that's homemade.) Only in America...
FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

Ahh, that feels better! Do you have any First World Problem gripes you'd like to share?

  1. I wonder what that frozen grilled cheese actually tastes like...

  2. That frozen grilled cheese is ridiculous! I bet it's a top seller which is sad. Haha

  3. Ooo, explain your soy aversion again? I forget. The whole estrogen thing?

I was just telling Pete how I went to DD for a bagel and it sucked so bad compared to NYC bagels. Does that place have anything good?

I read an article yesterday saying how the Monday after we start DST is one of the most accident-prone days of the year because everyone is so messed up!

FWP - don't get to see you until Friday.
FWP #2 - this Diqsus thing hates IE and that is what I am using right now (barf).

  4. That grilled cheese sounds so sad! The bread has GOT to be all soggy and it probably takes just as much time to make it. I can understand if you want it at work and don't have a stove to cook it but ... come on!

  5. I wonder if they will make frozen toast next?!

  6. Yes, the whole estrogen thing. I also prefer the taste of almond milk. I don't know what I was thinking.

Haha, DD coffee is amazing. I like that it isn't as strong as Starbucks.

It has been too long since our last NFC lunch. I'm excited for our dinner! I don't get why Disqus has problems. I dislike how they STILL always spam your comments. It is quite annoying. FWP for sure!

  7. Haha, even then! I'd rather eat a mac and cheese cup. GROSS

  8. Frozen grilled cheese ranks up there next to frozen peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. Seriously?? How lazy are we? Although, honestly, I tend to burn grilled cheese so maybe I shouldn't talk...

  9. Haha, I was buying those Uncrustables for awhile. And then one day, while I was angrily waiting for one to defrost at home, it was like a light bulb went on. Kelly, you can make your own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I haven't bought them since.

I sometimes burn grilled cheese too... but, you can always make another one, as it doesn't take long!

  10. I would assume (and you know what they say about "ass"ume) that the frozen grilled cheese would be marketed toward parents with children who spend time home alone. We don't want them to light the house on fire but really, how much PB&J can one kid possibly consume? So we will pretty much buy naything that htye can "cook" without lighting the stofe. True story.

  11. I didn't even think about it from that perspective, but that is a good point! What about if you pre-made your own grilled cheese and stuck them in ziplock bags? Maybe that would cut down on the preservatives and processed things? BUT, that is coming from a non-mom that has lots of time on her hands, comparatively speaking. ;)

hahaha... frozen grilled cheese is the epitome of lazy. I mean... even as a 10 year old, I could figure out how to make frozen pizza and Kraft mac n' cheese. It's an insult to children's intelligence, really...

Those frozen grilled cheese sandwiches would've been AMAZING after a drunken night in college! :)

  14. Ewww for the frozen grilled cheese. It truly sickens me thinking about how many products like this people consume (preservatives/chemicals) for the "ease" of it. *and I'm not the "healthiest" eater ever....

Those old fashioned donuts sound ahmazing.

  15. I'd rather eat some fresh fats than the processed/chemical ones. Give me some fresh cut french fries any day!! ;)

And the donut was amazing. I might need to make it a Friday treat only!

  16. I'm a loser. Just had to post that on your blog for clarification. HAHA
