Random Tangent Tuesday

Now that the exam is over and my work life is back to a more regular schedule, I'm looking forward to my first real week "back." I seemed to have missed the unseasonably warm temperatures and I know I need to get used to running in the dark, frigid cold. The last 3 or 4 times I've brought my gym bag to the office, things have come up and I have not been able to go and workout. Today, I am vowing to get my run on, even if it is on the dreadmill.

Today The Clymb is having a deal on Oiselle clothes. If you have been wanting to try their stuff, this is a great chance to get something at a discount. Added plus, they arrive in time for Christmas (hint hint, to spouses).

I have a serious case of FWP today. I signed up for the Daily Mile Secret Santa and I can't decide what to get the person I've been assigned. I'm probably over-thinking it, but I just cannot decide what to get! I have to decide soon since the gifts need to be mailed out by Wednesday next week. Are you participating in the Daily Mile Secret Santa? Are you having the same issues as me?

And now, I'm going to be focused on training for the F^3 Half Marathon on January 26. I probably couldn't go out and run a half marathon this weekend, but I know I have plenty of time to get my fitness level where it needs to be. I am going to try to PR so we will see how that goes. Plenty of time, right? :)

Since every post needs a photo, here is a picture of Pepper, getting into the Christmas spirit. (If you follow me on Instagram, this is old news.)

  1. Yay for F^3 training. I am going for a January half marathon pr! But seriously, I am wondering how the weather will affect my time. It it's cold, the extra layers of clothing (and cold air) may slow me down.

  2. I'm doing the DailyMile Secret Santa, and I had the same problem! I spent at least half an hour in my running store this weekend picking things up and putting them down. Ultimately, I went with an issue of Runner's World—which I love!—and some Nuun. A couple of pairs of awesome running socks were runner up. Good luck choosing!

  3. Good call with the fuel. I'll try and think of some more ideas this weekend.

  4. I do not do well in the heat and am ready for cooler temps. I think you can PR, if you practice outside and train outside... why not?! :) Having been running through the last few winters, I find that the extra layers don't really weigh me down. They are usually pretty lightweight and I tend to warm up fairly quickly (except for maybe the fingers). It is alllll about having the gear that best suits what you need and how your body handles the cold.

  5. I think I figured out my DailyMile SS! I think I might get him a handheld FuelBelt.

If I had been assigned a woman though, I probably would have went with some Active Bands or Bondi Bands. Probably in somewhat basic colors/prints.

  6. Umm, Pepper is adorable! :) I'm having a hard time acclimating myself to the cold, dark running weather. Ugh...

  7. Okay. I need to figure out my clymb PW! I'm considering "trying" a pair of oiselle run shorts. But I'm totally scared. Do you wear the same ones that Sarah OUAL uses? She swears they won't creap. I still don't know if I believe it.

  8. Can you just have them email you a new password?

Sarah OUAL wears the Rogas. Those are actually not on sale on the site. I wear the Lori and Distance shorts. I like both and feel that they do not creep or rise up. They are also much more flattering on the behind than other shorts.

  9. Haha thanks! I'm also have a little trouble acclimating. Once I get into my new routine though, I don't think it will be too bad. Having the will power to go outside when it is dark and cold is the hardest part.

  11. Got a new password. Didn't try any of the oiselle stuff but bought a Merrill jacket for $59, now let's just hope the sleeves are somewhat close to my wrist. My winter jacket problem is a real problem. :o(

  12. Although I'm not as tall as you, I frequently have a problem where my pants and sleeves are too short. Best of luck with your jacket!! :)
