First World Problems

Today is Wednesday and it hasn't been a great week so far. An amazing weekend is ahead so I just have to get through the next few days...

In our office building, the "office services" person abruptly quit a few months back. He had worked at our firm for almost 10 years and he left a huge void. Now, we have to go upstairs 2 floors to pick up any packages that are delivered, instead of having them delivered to our cube for us. Now that I've had a taste of the good life (aka cube-side service), I don't like having to go upstairs to pick up my latest Zappos order!

FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

Also office related, since our "office services" person left, the kitchen supplies are not replenished often. We only have 1 kitchen on our floor so it is used by everyone. We are currently out of paper towels, paper plates, silverware, and 2 coffee flavors of our Kuerig k-cups! We are living like savages down here. The supplies need to be replenished maybe once a month and this is not getting done. We are all pretty frustrated but it isn't really a valid complaint outside of our office building (as I know many other companies don't provide their employees with free coffee).

FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

I have the iPhone 4 and I haven't updated the software in a long time. This is for 2 main reasons. 1) I'm lazy and 2) I'm worried I'll loose all my photos and videos when it is updated! Now, since iOS 6 came out (and before then too), many of the apps I have just aren't working right anymore. I post to Facebook and things aren't going through. Also, I can't download any new apps because the old software is not compatible. I am up for a new phone in December, so do I just wait until then and get a new phone or update my current phone and risk losing what I haven't yet backed up (which is most things, to be honest).
FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

This year, the marathon has a wave start and a more extensive corral system. I have multiple friends that I want to run with on Sunday, but because of the new wave system, this is not really possible. I understand the waves aim to make the course less crowded (and that helped during the Shamrock Shuffle). So, I'm just focusing on running with one person, and if I'm able to run with other folks, that would be great too. Simply for selfish reasons, I wish they would go back to the old system, but I really don't see that happening.

FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

I am taking the CFA exam in December. I know I've talked about this before but studying for it is really hard. It isn't just memorizing formulas, but understanding the formulas, what happens if the various components increase/decrease and the resulting impact. I'm really stressed out about it, and I'm really lucky that my husband has been so understanding. I'm doing a lot of studying and I feel like I'm not doing so well on the self-tests at the end. Thankfully the overall schedule allows for a full month of review at the end... I just wish I had more time to study on a daily basis! With working, eating, and sleeping, that only leaves a few hours left in the day to study! I know everyone has faith that I can do it... I just need to GET IT DONE.
FIRST WORLD PROBLEM

I think that is enough complaining for now. I already feel better! Get ready for some ZOMG I LOVE RUNNINGGGG!!! posts later this week as the marathon gets closer and I'm excited I'm NOT running it! :)

What are some of your first world problems this week??

  1. First world problem: Fretting over how I will do in the marathon on Sunday. The marathon costs about $150 and takes countless hours of free time to train for! Most of the world would probably be envious to count this as a problem. :-)

  2. First world problems....buying king sized shams instead of Euro....apparently I need 8 pillows on my bed when I only sleep with one. When did styling a bed become a thing? And when did I start doing it?

First world problems...my nespresso machine is not working. I have a coffee machine, but clearly we also need espresso.

  3. We have someone in our office who is supposed to restock the kitchen supplies (including the K-cups) but she does a really bad job at it. We were out of green tea and English breakfast tea for weeks! Weeks!

  4. You are an inspiration with all that studying. If I ever take the ARE, I will need tips from you ;)

At the Fox Valley marathon/20/half I had similar spectating issues - because all courses turned at the half way point, I could only see the marathoners.

Once we are out of cups/utensils/plates/etc. in our office they are not replenishing them. It's "not budgeted for."

FWP: Invited to too many events and have to say no to some (running with Desi!).

  5. Hi, new here! I updated my iPhone, and it's been jacked up ever since. Lost sound randomly, and can only listen to music via headphones. My opinion, Don't Do It!
Good luck on your exams, and this weekend!

  8. I have a queen sized bed but have to have a king sized comforter because I feel the full/queen size is always too small. I understand your pain! FWP for sure!!

  9. Thanks for stopping by! I think I'm going to wait on updating my phone (sorry Kim) since I'm due for an upgrade in just 2 months. I won't need to have more fancy things until after my test anyways. Thanks!!

  10. Thanks Kim! What??? How are you supposed to eat lunch if they don't give you stuff to eat with? That is DEFINITELY a FWP for sure!!!

  11. Weeks? How horrible! I thought days was bad. I thought I had it rough, having to settle for French Roast instead of my preferred Nantucket Blend. ;)

  13. It was so bad last year that I bought green tea K-cups as my contribution to the office gift exchange.

  14. Haha, did anyone find it amusing? Apparently the hint was not received....

  15. We do “Yankee Swap” or whatever you call it. There was a slight fight over them.

  16. I'm jealous of everyone complaining about being out of K-cups. We don't have free coffee in my office, although we do have a coffee maker, but have to supply our own grounds (and filters) to use it. Since only two of us drink coffee, we instead bought a french press and take turns buying grounds. And our own milk or cream. IT'S SO HARD.

iOs 6 is great except for the Maps app. Oh my gawd it sucks so hard I can't even handle it. Definitely a FWP.

  18. You really look like you're in the zone in the last pic.

  19. Oh geez! I seem to be getting mixed reviews of iOs 6. I've heard it slows down the phone significantly from some folks. Oh well! I'll probably just stay the course and procrastinate updating and just wait until I get a new phone in a few months... :)
