Cross Training and Another Video of my Dog

I haven't been as good about my cross training lately. I feel guilty about it as I just haven't made the time to do it. There really isn't a better excuse than that... I have a rowing machine in my basement and a workout facility at the office. I have the tools, I just need to get back to utilizing them!!!

I've also had lots of talks recently with some of my friends that do crossfit, and I've been thinking of possibly dabbling. I know things would be tough, but I think I could learn a lot about efficiency and form. Have you done crossfit before? I know there are quite a few running bloggers out there who have started to get into it.

In other news, I took a funny video of my dog that I thought I would share. It really is no secret that she likes toys and playing tug of war.

When playing, she does this really funny thing where she shakes her head violently from side to side, trying to get the rope. I consider it cheating but she isn't known for playing games in a clean way!

What a brat dog! (But I still love her anyways, duh.) Also, when we play fetch, she drops the tennis ball at my feet and then goes out to where she wants me to throw it. What a little cheat! Does your pet have a favorite game? Does your pet cheat at their favorite games too?

  2. Nice video. She really wants that rope! My dog puts his ball under the sofa then has me fetch it for him!

  3. I took a CrossFit class once that was all beginners. 4 weeks, three times a week. I loved it. Going to a regular class with people who know what they are doing intimidates me.

My dogs loves to do that with toys. I loved when they would clamp down on that rope and I could drag them across the floor because they wouldn't let go!

  4. Haha, I think my dog pushes the tennis ball under the couch/coffee table/TV stand because she knows I'll get up and get it for her. What. A. Brat! Haha

  5. That sounds nice! I like the "beginners" idea. There is a local place giving away some free crossfit session this weekend. I'm going to go and try to winnnn!

Oh yes, that is part 2 of the game. I could walk around the house with her attached to that dang rope!

  7. Aww! Pepper is too cute! Pepper! We still love you, even though you are a cheat.

I have the MOST HILARIOUS (imho) of playing fetch with Data. We threw a blue ball and a yellow ball down the stairs and said "Bring back the one that is your fave color!" He came back up and dropped the blue one on the ground... then the yellow one was in his mouth behind it. LOL. We were SHOCKED. I wish I had it on camera. Anyways, I am a crazy cat lady, and fetch is a fave game, along with ribbon... which is just pulling the ribbon around on the bed while he attacks it.

  8. Haha, that story about Data is hilarious!!!! Pepper always tries to get 2 tennis balls in her mouth at the same time but she can never do it. It is always a big debate. She will even chase around 2 different ones in hopes of getting both. Maybe Data could teach her his magical fetching ways. :)

  9. Do not do crossfit. Crossfit is the perfect way to get hurt. Slinging those weights around like that with less than perfect form is not good. You will get hurt. Crossfit competitions aren't bad if done 3 or 4 times a year but doing a routine 3-5 times a week is not good. If you want to get stronger lift weights the correct way. The correct way to build muscle is to lift heavy meaning never do more than 10 reps of anything. If you can do more than 10 reps add weight. Also being a woman please don't be like many women who are afraid to lift heavy fearing that they will get too big. It takes years to get big. Do two things before thinking about crossfit. One look at some videos on youtube for crossfit mishaps. Then go to www.bodybuilding.com and read about lifting the correct way. Crossfit was born for people who lifted that hate doing cardio. People who hate to run. Many bodybuilders hate cardio. You love to run so why bother with crossfit. Just lift seriously with big boy freeweights 2-3 times a week focusing on squats and deadlifts and you will be fine. Please don't join the cult.

  11. Hmm, you definitely bring up some important points. Thanks for your ideas!

I do think Crossfit is a fad, but I think I want to give it a try before completely counting it out. It doesn't sound like it is for me, but I think it is worth a shot to possibly hop on this bandwagon. :)

  12. Crossfit looks super fun, but way too expensive for me! I'm much too cheap to pay for that! I'll stick with my regular gym! :) My dog's favorite game is tug-o-war, but with other dogs, not people. She doesn't cheat, but when she gets the toy/stick/whatever they're using for tug-o-war, she prances around with a proud look on her face. I think it's kind of rude.

  13. Yes, Crossfit is pretty expensive. With how much time I have to spend studying right now, I think it is best to put it on hiatus for a little while. It does sound like fun though!

Your dog sounds adorable! They sure can be such jerks sometimes! Haha
