NightRunning

I'm up in Michigan with my husband's family this weekend, celebrating the 4th of July. We usually come up here every year for lots of good grilling and fireworks. Due to the temps, we haven't been doing a ton of grilling as the grillmaster almost melted the last time. We even went to Olive Garden last night for dinner because it was too hot to do anything. Even though it was getting late, I still wanted to get in my mid-week run. Last night I decided to go for my run at 10:00pm. I had been procrastinating it all day in hopes temps would be more cooperative. At least when we went out at 10, the sun was down so it wasn't too bad. I did the first 2 miles solo and then 2 of Toph's cousins joined me for the last 3. It was nice to have the company especially since we just kept going around the same loop about 6 times to make up the 5 miles. I have 14 miles on the schedule this weekend and I'm dreading it based on the temps. We'll see how things go but I think I'm going to do it Sunday morning since it is supposed to be cooler then. We'll see!

  1. That late night run sounds fun! It's crazy how it's not even cooling down in the evenings anymore. Sigh. I hope you find a fun route for your 14!

  2. Hopefully you won't have to run around that same loop for your long run...that would be a real thrill!

  3. Yes temps here in Michigan are super hot. I wish I had energy to run at night but I never do. I hope to get up early enough tomorrow to best the super high temps again.

  4. I had to run loops on my vacation last week. It got the job done, but it was boring and hot! But it felt great to fit it in!

  5. When will you be back? CARA cancelled all Saturday runs due to the ridiculous heat, so some of us are running Sunday morning on the OPRT.

  6. We ended up coming home a day early. I'll be doing the 14 miles locally with my running group friends. Yay!

  7. I totally agree! Fitting in a run on vacation makes the vacation feel even more rewarding, in my opinion. :)

  9. We ended up leaving Michigan early. We went for a swim in the lake and it was barely refreshing because it was so hot (the temp and the water temp). Can't wait for this warmth to break!
