More Race Prep

Last night I had a run on the schedule of 4 miles. I tried to do some mental focusing getting ready for the race. It was a bit humid yesterday and I came back from my run just a little sweaty...

I'd like to think that I had so much sweat because I was sweating off the nerves and fear that often accompany a goal race. I have worked hard for this. I can do this. It is supposed to be hard. If it were easy, everyone would do it.

The half marathon course shape is kind of similar to the Chicago Marathon. I'm trying to picture myself at different points in the course, meeting the time I want to meet. I don't want to obsess about the weather, but I definitely have a Plan A, B, and C. I already regret checking Sunday's weather because it is back up to 96. (It was predicted as 90 a few days ago, and read as a predicted 89 degrees in the elevator this morning.) As we can't control the weather, I'm TRYING not to focus on it. :) Last night I did my laundry and have laid out my race day outfit. I'm getting excited. The big day is almost here...

Have you entered my Oiselle London Calling Tee giveaway yet? You have until Monday, July 23rd to enter.

  1. Hey Kelly, try not to stress so much! I know it's a big important race to you but all these nerves?? May backfire! Just do the best you can and yes, we can't control the weather...and it's going to be hot. Take that into consideration when going into this race. I KNOW you have it in you...Good luck and I'll be there cheering you on...from behind you ...still running...forever! lol

  2. Good luck! I'll definitley be thinking about you. I know this is a big one for you but there will always be more races. Safety first if the weather is being a turd like it has as of late. Summer racing this year is even more tricky than ever before. Sending good vibes yoru way!

  4. Good luck on Sunday! I think some nerves are a good thing- and you're right. If this was easy, everyone would be doing it. I find myself more and more nervous excited for these races as I put in the most consistent training. I guess we expect more of ourselves on race day after investing so much time and emotion into our goals.

I'm praying for a freak cold front to come through! :)

  5. This weather has been so awful. No matter how early I run, I am still a mess! And best of luck on Sunday - I had to bail due to injury recovery, but I will be cheering you on! :)
