Garminless Wonders and an American Breakfast

Since saying goodbye to my Garmin for the time being, I've completed only a few runs. I like how I've been feeling and I'm going to keep this break going. Temperatures in Chicago have cooled off a smidge, lending to some comfortable runs (instead of "omg I want to die. This sucks" runs). On Saturday I got up early and got in an 8 miler before the sun was high in the sky.

So have you all been watching the Olympics and seeing all the drama unfold in swimming and gymnastics? Missy Franklin and that forever huge smile. Ryan Lochte and uh Ryan Lochte. The upsets in womens gymnastics. We are only on day 4 folks and the track and field events haven't even started yet!! I've been following along the coverage via twitter, Facebook, and NBCOlympics.com. You can even watch events live on the website! In preparation for yet another Olympic day, I has myself an American breakfast.

Team USA cereal (from Kellogg's of course) with blueberries on top. It was patriotic and it was delicious. I'll continue to wear my red, white, and blue outfits this week in honor of the Olympics. What are you doing to show your patriotism? Dressing like Will Ferrell ala SNL?

P.S. Have you entered my Pro Compression raffle yet? Only $2 per entry this time around!!

  1. Ryan Locthe. The Olympics can just be about him and I would be content! ; ) I am loving watching it all, especially the swimming. Mind boggling how fast they go.

    Love that cereal!

I love that picture you took of yourself! How did you get it to look like that??
Glad you are enjoying your "break". Although yesterday was straight back into "hot as hell" running! lol

  5. Haha, I know, right? That smile... in the Call Me Maybe parody he eyes the camera and wink. I think at that point, most women in the world melted. Lol

  6. I took the photo with my camera and I didn't do any effects. With how I was standing, that is just how it turned out (which is what I posted on my FB page). I used that photo and instragramed it and that's what I posted here. :)

The olympics are literally taking over my life! I have been staying up super late to watch everything and I am so tired in the mornings! But for 2 weeks I think its worth it! I am so excited for Track and Field and the marathon!

  8. I love the olympics. I'm surprised Mick is even letting me watch. Last time, during the Beijing Games, I stayed up late every night to watch. One morning, I woke up and realized I wanted to have a baby (Hello, Michael!), Mick thought I was delusional from exhaustion & Olympic Fever!

  10. I am loving watching the Olympics too! I wish the nightly coverage included more of the sports, but then it would be EVEN LONGER... would that be bad? :)

  11. Man, I wish I could stream it. Do you know a place where you can stream without being some kind of cable subscriber. NBC always prompts me for my cable subscriber info (which we are not--so we don't have) when I try to steam live.

    1. Bummer! I think you have to have cable to watch it live. I know there have been a lot of complaints towards NBC on that stipulation. Although, if you check out http://www.runnerspace.com/, you might have some luck with some quick videos after the races are over?
