TGIFriday

Yesterday I met up with my usual Thursday night running crew. I ran in a running skirt for the first time in a long time (I need to do laundry and I am towards the bottom of my "running bottoms" section). I don't know if it was this particular brand, or all running skirts, but I was not a fan. Once I was wearing it, I was like "Oh yea, THIS is why I never wear this."
L to R: Don, Julie, Susan M, me, Amanda
This may be TMI, but the shorts under the skirt were riding up my butt the whole run. That = not fun or comfortable. Maggie and I were talking about planning a running swap for folks to exchange clothes, accessories, etc. after one of our weeknight or weekend runs. This running skirt may end up in that exchange. TBD.

I did my speed workout with Julie this week and it worked out great. We weren't the same pace for the speed intervals, but I had my timer and would put my hand in the air signalling when we were slowing down. Props to Kim for the idea to use the timer app on my phone to help moderate the workout as my Garmin battery was dead. It is definitely different to do a speed workout by "feel" rather than "time." I'm always up for a new challenge to keep things interesting!

After our workout was over, I ran into my friend Kate S. and her little pup Bo. To help keep Bo hydrated while they run, she picks her up so she can have a quick drink.

Um, she can give Pepper a run for the money as cutest dog award. Maybe... Just look at that face!! (Pepper and Bo are friends IRL, in case you were wondering.) Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. My running club did a clothing/gear swap in 2010 and it was awesome. I got a totally kickass tank top and got rid of a pair of running tights I never liked. You should totally set one up with your group.

  2. Ahh! Bo! You are too cute!

Happy the timer app worked for you!

I like the running exchange idea. I could never give anyone else my clothes though. They are WAY too stinky!

    Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a HUGE running skirt fan, possibly b/c running shorts don't fit my bum (gave the ones I won from you to Maggie). However, cuz of my funky bum issues, I prefer the triathlon style skirts that do not have attachments under the skirt. If I have attachments I cut them out. I have a few pair of briefs from skirtspors taht I wear under all my skrits.

  5. Yesss! One person's ill-fitting junk is another person's treasure! Now that the weather is getting warmer, we will probably coordinate this soon. Glad it worked out for you! :)

  6. I think that this blog also needs to start doubling as a "cute dog photos" blog. I mean, it already is pretty much. Yay for cute dogs! There are never too many!!

I hope that the Sports Wash sample helps get rid of some of that stink! :P

  7. Yes, I agree. Maybe more folks will come? We'll see! Next week I am in Nashville from Thursday through Sunday. I'm going to have to adjust my workouts next week accordingly. Fun times!!!! :)

  8. I'm sorry the shorts didn't workout. I know Maggie is excited about them! This skirt was more of a mini skirt so I felt like my cheeks were a bit breezy during the run as the shorts rode up and the skirt didn't properly cover. Ahh! The more I talk about it, the more I'm going to donate it to our running item swap, whenever that is...

  9. That is such a cute photo! I keep telling Tim we NEED to get a pug. This should sell him on it.

  11. Bo is such a cutie!!! I'd love to have a tiny dog, but my Saint Bernard and Great Dane might think it's an appetizer. ;) I love my Lululemon running skirts. The shorts stay where they're supposed to and they look so dang cute. I just can't do any skirt (regardless of the brand) if it's flat fronted. I need pleats or gathering. If I don't, my thighs push up the skirt part while I'm running, and nobody wants to see that! ;)

  12. Haha, we have video of my pup playing with Bo. They are great friends. I haven't tried Lululemon shorts or skirts but they certainly are adorable! (I just can't justify spending that much on running clothes.)

  13. Sorry to hear you don't like the skirts. I love them. And I love the idea of a swap. That never even crossed my mind.
