Obviously

Last week when my husband and I were watching the Biggest Loser, they had a rowing contest while at home. I made a comment how I wish our rowing machine had a screen that told you how you were doing. My husband looked at me, confused. He said "Kelly, there is a screen that tells you how you're doing." I then looked at him, confused "What are you talking about?" We argued for about 5 minutes because both of us were too lazy to go down to the basement and settle the argument (and I mostly thought I was right and he was just messing with me).

Hello, I'm Captain Obvious.
 Have we met?

Yes, the rowing machine has a display. All I had to do was flip this piece of metal around and there it was, staring me in the face. Granted it needs some batteries (?) but I will happily be replacing those this weekend. It will be nice to know how far I'm actually rowing for a change and see if/how I'm improving.

And now for something completely different... There are a few things that I'm currently obsessed with and loving right now that I thought I would share.

1) The Hunger Games
This isn't really anything new. I'm in love with the book series and cannot wait for the movie to come out. I have a shirt that I'm wearing to the movie premiere (and possibly the Shamrock Shuffle). I know you're jealous. (Thankfully Alyssa at Life of Blyss has a Hunger Games store where you can buy some gear!)

2) Game of Thrones
I started reading the book and am totally addicted. At first, I had trouble getting up to speed on the show. With so many characters, I was a bit lost. When I went back and re-watched some of the earlier episodes, things made more sense. Now reading the book, I am even more in love with the series. I think both the show and book are making a lot more sense having done them together. Now after I read however far in the book, I'm going back and re-watching the episode. I hope to be caught up before the new season starts in April. Is anyone else as excited about this as me?

3) Cottage cheese
I read Hungry Runner Girl's blog and she always talks about cottage cheese. I went to the store hungry and came home with a giant tub. I am thankful for the impulse purchase and plan on having more large tubs in the weeks/months to come!

4) Hill workouts
I've been running in the hills every Saturday. I always feel more accomplished when completing them and have started to look forward to them. If I have to miss them (like I did this past weekend), I am sad.

What are some things that you're in love with/obsessed with? Andddd who do you think will win Biggest Loser? I really like Cassandra and Emily. I would be happy with either one of them winning!

  1. That is so funny about the rowing machine!!! Haha!!

Never heard of hunger games! I'll put it on my list! Do you know of the site "goodreads.com" It's a good way to keep track of the books you've read, want to read, or are reading. Then you have friends and can see what they are reading or what they thought of a book.

  2. The Hunger Games is soooo good! You have to read it before word gets out about the movie!! :)

I haven't heard of Good Reads. I don't usually read too many books, but I will highly consider looking into it. I used to have some sort of app on my Facebook page with information like that, but then apps went away so I'm not sure where that data went?

  4. I love that YOU love the hills! I like them as well, after I get used to them. Wait, I am not sure that has ever happened

Happy you found the display on your rowing machine! That totally sounds like an argument I would have with my husband :)

I am in love with PB2. And Chocolate Dipped Coconut LUNA bars. I wish I could come up with non-food items!

  7. I already have 2 dates to see the movie opening weekend. I'm hoping one of them ends up being in IMAX or 3D. I'm trying not to anticipate too much, but I just know it is going to be awesome based on the previews!

  8. I like that I'm not afraid of hill workouts anymore. They definitely help break up the traditional running routine!

Haha, I'm still cracking up that I had been using this machine for months and never knew there was a display. Duh Kelly. Duh.

What is PB2? It sounds peanut buttery and delicious. Please explain!

  9. Haha, I know, right? I LOVE cottage cheese! I think I need to get a separate tub just for the office. I've had it with blackberries on top as well as bananas and peanut butter. I also have some frozen strawberries I could put in there too. So many possibilities!!

  10. OMG, I can't even talk enough about the Hunger Games. Totally obsessed!!! I was thinking joyfully today of one of my favorite quotes from the whole book.

"You love me. Real or not real?"
    "Real."

  11. I envy that you have such a great rhythm going with your hill workouts - that is fantastic! And how awesome to have a rowing machine in your basement, with or without a monitor. =) Great cross-training convenience right there!

Obsessions: NHL hockey, and I also spend way too much time perusing online running stores, travel websites, and recipe websites. =D

  12. A family member of my husband gave us the machine for my husband to use to help strengthen his back. He has maybe used it once, but I use it all the time! I just can't do the elliptical without almost crying from being so bored. Thankfully I can hook this up in my basement and watch tv on the iPad! :)

Ooh, I like the sound of these online running stores. I need to be better about recipes and actually doing them, but I get soooo lazy. Are you a member of Pinterest?
