Finally, New Winter Gloves

Tuesday I had a successful speedworkout. I completed 5x400m with a 400m recovery jog in between. The splits are as follows:
7:18
7:24
7:24
7:24
7:08

My goal 5k pace is 7:24 so I felt pretty good about this. Considering I haven't done speedwork in a few months, I comfortably met my goal. Now I know I can do it and it is time to turn it up next week for more!

Also on Tuesday I received my winter running purchase from Running Warehouse! A balaclava (left) and a pair of decent winter gloves (right). I've only been complaining about my winter gloves for months now. I'm excited to give these gloves a try today! I will post a review of them once I've given them a whirl a few times. I like the yellow color. You can see them from space!

I've also decided what I'm giving up for Lent this year. As I've mentioned a bunch of times already, Toph is a vegetarian. I thought since he already is one, it would be easy to give up meat for lent. Yesterday I was traveling for work and had a really hard time finding a menu item that was vegetarian. That prompted me to decide that I am going to go vegetarian for lent. I toyed with the idea of going vegan too, but decided that it would be a bad idea considering I just bought groceries and most of them would go to waste. Lol. Next year, I'm going vegan. Now THAT would be a challenge. :)

Tonight I'm meeting my running group for our 2nd attempt at a standard Thursday night run. Snow is in the forecast so it could be interesting. I brought my trail shoes and my running raincoat just in case. When the weather outside is less than perfect, do you still like to go out there and hit the pavement, or do you head to the treadmill? With the exception of extreme heat or pouring rain, I'll head outside! :)

  1. That is super speedy!! I love those gloves so much. If i could find one, i would run in a full neon colored track suit...

  2. I like this neon track suit idea! Running tights need to come in colors other than black and grey. Honestly!

A decent pair of running gloves has positively effected my runs, probably one of the best investments I've had yet to date.

  4. This is so good to hear! The ones I have are the Manzella Women's Hatchback Gloves and I've heard they are warm. I'm so excited to wear them tonight out on the trail! :)

  6. YES! I'm so excited to wear them! I liked your Manzella's when I borrowed them for a few miles a few weeks back. Hopefully they are everything I hope they will be! :)

  7. Where were you that it was difficult to find a vegetarian meal (so I know not to go ;)).

I almost always run outside, unless it's icy or they ground is too unclear. I am not so good on the treadmill.

Sub 23:00 is my 5K goal too, but I do not think it is going to happen this training cycle. We'll see. I might go for it.

  8. I was in Memphis for work. We went to a fancy place so if you didn't want food-coma-inducing pasta, I went with a salad. It was my only choice (as the soup of the day was chili?)

I think the crowd has dwindled for our run outside tonight due to the weather, but I'll be there even if there are only a few of us.

Best of luck on your sub 23:00 5k! I'm sure you can do it! I have so many other non-5k related goals coming up, I'm just going to work on my speed and hope to fit in a 5k somewhere. I think I got a little half-marathon-happy this year. :)
