Chicago Spring Half Marathon and 10k Raffle!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I recently signed up to be a part of the Miles for Magic charity team. My goal is to raise $500, and I will be running the Rock N Roll Chicago Half Marathon for Miles for Magic. To help raise money I will be raffling off several different items here on my blog. Today is the first of (hopefully) many more to come!

What will I be raffling off today? Race entry into the 2012 Chicago Spring Half Marathon and 10k!

The race takes place in downtown Chicago on Saturday, May 12, 2012. (The 2011 course information can be found here.) The winner of the raffle will be awarded entry into the half marathon OR 10k, whatever they choose.

To enter this amazing raffle, you must donate to my charity (Miles for Magic) by clicking here. For a $5 donation you receive 1 entry into the raffle, and each additional raffle entry is $3.

1 entry = $5
2 entries = $8
3 entries = $11
4 entries = $14
5 entries = $17
6 entries = $20

Please leave a comment on this post letting me know when you have entered the raffle. All raffle entries must be received by Sunday, March 4 at 11:59pm (CST). I will choose the winner using random.org. If you have any questions, feel free to email me or leave me a comment!

Were you wondering about my clue yesterday?
I registered for this race in 2009. I didn't end up running it, but I absolutely love the race shirt and wear it all the time. I have heard good things about this race and I'm happy to give one of you this racing experience! Have you run this race before? Tell me in the comments and I'll update this post with some feedback!

I'm really excited about this raffle and I hope you are too. Best of luck to all participants!

In other news, Amanda and Kilax are the winners of the Nathan/Penguin Sports Wash samples! Please email me to coordinate the distribution of the samples.

  1. Are you gonna have other raffles? I would love to donate, but i don't want to prevent someone from winning this entry when i know i can't run it :)

  2. Yes, I'm going to have other raffles! I've heard back from a few companies and am anxiously awaiting their products to arrive in the mail. I'm going to try to do one raffle a month (at least) depending on how many items are donated.

    Thanks!!

  3. I ran the Chicago Spring Half Marathon last year. The weather was a DISASTER - the wind was blowing around 40 MPH, the temp was in the upper 30s, it was raining/sleeting sideways, and the lakefront path was a mud-strewn mess. The course marshalls looked miserable and whoever was manning the halfway turnaround point wasn't there when I reached it, so a few of us ended up overshooting the halfway point. Other than that, though, the post-race party had some of the best food I've seen at a race, and I wear the shirt all the time. The registration fee was also one of the most affordable I’ve seen for a half marathon taking place in Chicago. I would definitely run it again, but unfortunately I’ll be out of town when it takes place this year. =(

  4. Thanks for the in-depth description! I'm sorry you had such horrible weather for your race. Did you complete the half marathon or 10k?

Hopefully you'll be able to participate in other giveaways coming up! :)

  5. I did the half marathon (and my time was so bad that I'm embarrassed to see it in print!) It's funny because last year I was debating between running the Chicago Spring Half in May and the Chicago 13.1 Half in June. The Spring Half had the horrible cold weather, and the 13.1 Half got black-flagged due to high heat! So unpredictable! Yes, I look forward to participating in your future giveaways!!!!!!!!

  6. Living in Chicago I guess unpredictable weather is something we have to live with (literally). Looking at races like the Shamrock Shuffle and the Chicago Marathon, depending on the year the temperatures have been drastically different! I'm sorry you didn't get your goal time, but hopefully you accomplished it with another race!

  7. I donated $20 (side note - do you have any control of the word verification thing? It took me forever to find out that I could actually read). I will email you about the Sports Wash. Thanks! My clothes thank you in advance! Oh! And my husband. :)

  8. Awesome! Thanks! I don't have any control over the word verification, but I will contact Active Donations about that feedback.

  9. Why visitors still make use of to read news papers when in
this technological globe the whole thing is accessible on net?

  10. It's very trouble-free to find out any topic on net as compared to textbooks, as I found this piece of writing at this web site.
